John's Thoughts

A friend of mine had just directed his first big budget commercial for Samsung, and with the extra footage he that he intentially didn't use in the final edit, he created this Aetna spec spot as an example of a commerical he would do for them. It's a really sweet and poignant spot. A little girl dances around an old man playing the harmonica overlayed with her voiceover talking about someday wanting to be a ballerina. The very simple music is driven by a slightly twangy guitar supported by childrens choir, subtle flourishes from a harmonica, piano and synth textures.
